We took our merch and our tech tools on the road to meet up with MSPs. Here’s what happened.
It has been a busy year, and especially past few months, for us at Moovila. We released an in-depth report – in partnership with The Channel Company – on the state of the MSP industry that is packed with insights on trends. We launched a new Autotask PSA integration. And we packed up our gear, our slick merch – yes, there are cows – and our autonomous project management tools for MSPs and took it all on the road to industry events. We met smart, MSP tech leaders. And we were amazed by the variety of people and projects in the MSP world.
We felt loved, too, as we picked up awards and talked about projects with people from all walks of MSP life. “It continues to amaze me how collaborative MSPs are amongst themselves and with us vendors and suppliers,” says Vince Jajuga, VP of Sales and Partnerships at Moovila. “MSPs love to share with their colleagues what has worked and what hasn’t.”
“We LOVE when a partner starts a sentence with ‘you know what would help our business?’”
– Vince Jajuga, VP Sales & Partnerships, Moovila
From the steamy heat of Florida to the mountain highs of Denver, we chatted with the people who do the hard work of keeping MSPs on track. We asked what you need. You told us. And we learned.
Here is a recap of our tours.
XChange
Back in August, we traveled to Houston to attend the Channel Company’s XChange gathering. The weather was humid in Houston, but things heated up even more on the show floor where we talked to IT channel professionals and leaders, many of whom were seeing Perfect Project’s MSP offering for the first time
Our own CEO Mike Psenka gave a Tech Talk where he offered hands-on advice for managing projects, so they don’t kill your margins. He showcased the power of Perfect Project for keeping projects on time and under budget and got a terrific reaction to our automation tools that allow PMs to see when projects are slipping – in real time – without meetings or status reports. Psenka demonstrated how these tools make it easy to improve MSP efficiency, boost client satisfaction, and maximize project profitability.
The MooCrew was thrilled to take home a Sponsor Evolution award from this event, an award we feel many of our partners helped us to earn.
“The open sharing of ideas helps us get better and better,” says Jajuga. “The conversations we have at these events give us so many new ideas for further features to help MSPs reduce costs and add value to their business.”
IT Nation Evolve and Connect 2024
It was hot in Florida, even in November. But on the show floor at IT Nation Connect, and earlier in the week Evolve, we were too busy talking up the importance and challenges of project management with everyone from engineers to tech leaders to newly hired PMs to worry about the humidity.
“It seems like projects and project maturity have become a higher priority as more and more growing MSPs told us they had just hired their first PM – or they were the organization’s first PM,” says Kate Schlarf, Moovila’s VP of Growth Marketing.
“The thing that stood out to me,” says Zoey Cole, VP of Integrative and Autonomous Technologies, “was the amount of attention, and even admiration, we have from within ConnectWise. I had a conversation with a traveling CW Training Specialist who said that when clients ask him about project management, he teaches them about the ConnectWise module but also tells them that the Moovila integration can fill the gap if they are looking for something more advanced.”
Maybe that mounting interest in projects and project management is why the attendees at this event honored us with an award for the Most Influential Boardroom for our session on project management.
“Project management skills and trends weren’t generally prioritized within the general content sessions,” says Schlarf. But people seemed hungry for this information. “I think it emphasized the need for tracks for these specific audiences in the future,” she says. “The people are there. In some cases, this is the only show they go to. They want education options.”
“The titles and responsibilities varied immensely across the parties I was able to speak with at the booth,” says Becca Campbell, Senior Onboarding Engineer at Moovila, “as did the company size and space within the industry. Despite these differences, it was interesting to hear how similar their responses were regarding pain points and challenges with their current processes and management of projects.”
We also took first place in the Rapid Fire Pitch session, at IT Nation Evolve and Connect, which we could not be more thrilled about.
“The vendors get up and do a two-minute rapid fire session to pitch their product.” explains Schlarf. Our very own Andrea McGlothin won that...in a cow suit to boot!
DattoCon
Florida was also our destination for Kasaya’s dattoCON in October where the focus was on technical tools and real-world business strategies for MSPs looking to run a tighter ship.
“With our recent release of the Autotask integration, we made our first trip to dattoCON,” says Louis Bagdonas, senior program manager at Moovila. “We were anxious to see MSP’s reception of Moovila in this PSA ecosystem.”
It went well. This crowd has a massive need for better tools to manage projects and efficiency was on the table for discussion.
“Our booth was constantly busy,” says Bagdonas. “We had conversation after conversation about the struggles MSPs have keeping up with basic project management needs.”
For many of them, the search for the right tool is an ongoing quest. “A number of people have tried outside tools and attempted to build integrations into the PSA themselves,” he says. “But it never worked out. It was great to see the excitement around our solution. We are thrilled to serve another PSA ecosystem.” It was clear that this was our first large Kaseya event, but it definitely won’t be our last!
It’s hard to believe 2024 is coming to an end. It’s been a great year, and we hope to see you out there on a show floor in 2025.
